Fisher & Paykel Freezer 11 Error Code

Content status: Verified

Error code 11
Appliance Freezer
Quick answer

Code 11 means three loads together draw too little current. Read it only after the 20-second test.

Model compatibility: Fisher & Paykel reuses codes across series and model years, so 11 may mean something different on another appliance or generation. Confirm this against your model’s documentation and record your full model number before acting.

Plain language

What this code means

Current measured for the ambient heater, PC fan and FC fan is lower than expected.

Where most codes point to one component, code 11 involves three: the low ambient heater (LAH), the fresh food fan (PC) and the freezer fan (FC). The power module watches how much current the trio consumes, and with this code the figure is below what it should be.

Timing and the self-test

Switching the unit on at the wall, or shutting a door while it has power, starts a self-test lasting 20 seconds. Pulling a door open breaks into it. The service manual gives a worked case:

  • With the fan-and-heater plug disconnected from the power module, opening a door as soon as the alarm starts shows 13, since the heater is the first item tested.
  • Leave the doors closed until the tests are complete and the display reads 11.

Technicians are advised to allow the whole 20 seconds, doors shut, before looking. Do likewise before passing a code on to anyone.

Service sequence from the manual

  1. Examine the 6-way fan/LAH RAST connector on the power module.
  2. Should the fault remain, reterminate it.
  3. The final resort is a new power module.

The heater and both fans share that single plug, which explains how one poorly seated connection can bring up this code for all of them.

While waiting for service

A control button mutes the alarm, and so does unplugging the unit for a few seconds. Do not disturb the connector; it is located at the power module.

Overlapping codes

  • Code 12: those loads again, but over-current.
  • Code 13: the heater on its own, under-current.
  • Code 15: the fresh food fan on its own, under-current.
