Code 134 on a Phase 4 Fisher & Paykel washer joins excess motor current with a rotor position error. Service follows 130 and 132.
Model compatibility: Fisher & Paykel reuses codes across series and model years, so 134 may mean something different on another appliance or generation. Confirm this against your model’s documentation and record your full model number before acting.
Plain language
What this code means
Single current trip and Rotor Position Sensor error occurring together; listed for Phase 4.
Two faults in one code
Code 134 is for Phase 4 washers. Two things registered together with the Motor Controller module: too much motor current and an error from the Rotor Position Sensor. The manual’s Phase 4 machines are THL08, THM08, GWL08, GWM08 and GWC08, then AW085, LW085, MW058, W508, GW608 and GW708.
Where the steps come from
Under 134 there is no procedure at all, only a pointer to codes 130 and 132. Taken together they add up to three kinds of work:
Out of 130: connector corrosion at the sensor and controller ends, the hall harness contacts, and a sensor test.
Out of 132: wiring running from the controller out to the stator, motor and harness resistance (12.2 ohm nominal for Phase 4), water or corrosion where the sensor and the stator terminal sit, and any leak that could drip onto the controller.
Shared ending: a new controller module goes in last.
The coincidence of the two faults
Using the 130 and 132 procedures in combination is all the manual asks. Why the two faults coincide is not explained.
Owner notes
The entry gives an owner no task.
Power the washer down at the wall and keep a record of the number.
Report an earlier 130 or 132 on the display too, because the manual says the code showing is the latest one stored.
Important safety warning. Do not attempt repairs involving electrical components, gas, water lines, refrigerant or sealed systems. Unplug the appliance if it is safe to reach the outlet, and leave internal diagnostics to a qualified technician.
