Code 132 on Phase 1 to 4 Fisher & Paykel washers is a short-lived excess current in the motor or its electronic switches.
Model compatibility: Fisher & Paykel reuses codes across series and model years, so 132 may mean something different on another appliance or generation. Confirm this against your model’s documentation and record your full model number before acting.
Plain language
What this code means
Single current trip: momentary excess current in the motor or electronic switches, detected by the Motor Controller; Phases 1 to 4.
What 132 reports
A 132 stands for one current trip. Too much current flowed in the motor or in its electronic switches for a moment, and the Motor Controller noticed. Phases 1 to 4 are the only ones that list it.
Order of work in the manual
Wiring. Inspect the wiring joints between the controller and the stator, and those between the controller and the Rotor Position Sensor.
Motor. Shorts are hunted in the motor harness, its connectors and the motor, using a resistance reading between the motor’s phases, taken where the Motor Control module sits. Expect roughly 12.2 ohm for Phases 2, 3 and 4 and roughly 32 ohms for Smart Drive on Phases 5 and 6. Water, mechanical damage or corrosion are also looked for around the Rotor Position Sensor, the brass bridge terminal point on the stator, and the harness.
Controller. With nothing found, the Motor Controller module is swapped. First, check whether water is escaping from the cooling chamber or valves toward the controller; any such leak is cured before the new part goes in.
The reason for the leak warning
A new controller beside a leak that is still active could be harmed in just the same way. Should you have spotted damp patches near the washer, mention them when you call.
Owner notes
Kill the power at the wall socket once the code is on screen.
Resistance measurements on motor circuits are no job for a homeowner.
Think about whether it happened just the once. If it recurs, 133 is the harder, repeating version.

Important safety warning. Do not attempt repairs involving electrical components, gas, water lines, refrigerant or sealed systems. Unplug the appliance if it is safe to reach the outlet, and leave internal diagnostics to a qualified technician.
