Fault 61 is a low supply voltage found as the controller was about to save its own settings. Phase 4 only.
Model compatibility: Fisher & Paykel reuses codes across series and model years, so 61 may mean something different on another appliance or generation. Confirm this against your model’s documentation and record your full model number before acting.
Plain language
What this code means
On Phase 4 the Motor Controller found its 15 V supply below the safe level before an internal EEPROM write.
Scope
Code 61 is limited to Phase 4, the Series 8 generation. The Phase 4 model list in the manual has GW708, GW608, GWL08 and more. The entry is a brown out during the Motor Controller’s EEPROM write.
The write that was attempted
The Motor Controller module was preparing to save to its internal EEPROM, a memory chip for settings. It measured the 15 volt supply first and found it under the safety level. Instead of writing anyway, it reported the condition to the display.
Instruction in the manual
Source: Motor Controller module.
Action: replace that module.
The owner has nothing to try. The module is electronics, so unplug the washer for any inspection and leave replacement to a technician.
Relation to 57
The low-supply test is identical in codes 57 and 61, and only the requester differs. With 57 the Display asked for the write, and a transient is allowed as a cause. With 61 the Motor Controller was saving its own memory and no cause is given. The Display-driven case is on the page for 57.
Important safety warning. Do not attempt repairs involving electrical components, gas, water lines, refrigerant or sealed systems. Unplug the appliance if it is safe to reach the outlet, and leave internal diagnostics to a qualified technician.
