EC is a communication fault between the two drawers of a double DishDrawer. Restart steps, then a call.
Model compatibility: Fisher & Paykel reuses codes across series and model years, so EC may mean something different on another appliance or generation. Confirm this against your model’s documentation and record your full model number before acting.
Plain language
What this code means
Electronics fault: the two drawers are not communicating.
When a double DishDrawer displays EC, the two drawers have lost contact with each other. The Classic-model guide words it as “electronics fault – communication between drawers”. The trouble is in the link between the units, and the way the racks were loaded has nothing to do with it.
What to do when EC appears
Press the button the guide shows to stop the beeper.
Write down EC. Pressing the button again makes a second number appear for a moment, so write that down as well.
Turn the DishDrawer off, give it a few seconds, and turn it back on.
If EC is still there, unplug the unit or switch off its breaker, shut the water supply, and get in touch with Customer Care.
In short: one restart attempt, then power and water disconnected and a call. After the restart has failed, keep the machine unplugged until it has been looked at.
Why this one is unusual
Nearly every other code points at a single drawer. EC is about the connection between two of them. The guide groups it with the E-codes and names no part, so there is no stated wire or board behind the signal.
The later panel name
Later panels show FC for this fault, described as “communication fault between drawers”. The support article puts FC on its list of faults that need a service technician.
EC compared with U4
U4 looks similar because two drawers are involved, but there the drawer showing it is healthy and is held back because the other drawer has a fault. The guide says the U4 drawer is not faulty. EC is different: the fault is in the communication itself.
Ring (310) 872-1939 for DishDrawer service in Los Angeles. Say that it is a double unit, which drawer shows EC, and whether the second drawer still runs.
Important safety warning. Do not attempt repairs involving electrical components, gas, water lines, refrigerant or sealed systems. Unplug the appliance if it is safe to reach the outlet, and leave internal diagnostics to a qualified technician.
