E9 points to the controller electronics. The power reset and what to tell Customer Care.
Model compatibility: Fisher & Paykel reuses codes across series and model years, so E9 may mean something different on another appliance or generation. Confirm this against your model’s documentation and record your full model number before acting.
Plain language
What this code means
Fisher & Paykel's DishDrawer user guide lists E9 as an electronics fault in the controller.
E9 means a controller fault
The Classic-model user guide words it “Electronics fault – controller”. The control electronics are where the trouble is.
What you will notice
The beeper sounds once every second. The code is on the wash program panel inside the drawer, and Classic units show it on the display too. Press the button the guide shows to quiet the beeper before anything else.
The order to follow
Switch the DishDrawer off and leave it a few seconds.
Switch it back on and watch the display.
When the code reappears, press the button again and write down the extra number that briefly shows.
Take the power off at the plug or breaker, and close the water supply.
The guide ends there. It lists no replacement board, wiring check or software step for E9.
Does F9 mean the same thing?
Support material from Fisher & Paykel pairs E9 with F9, and the F-code version is worded “wash controller electronics fault”. In the older DD24 and DD60 guide, F9 appears as “electronics malfunction”, with advice to call a service centre or Customer Care. That wording is on the F9 page.
Questions people ask
Can the other drawer still be used? The DD24DAX9 guide says that with a fault in a single drawer, the other one remains usable. The 590199D guide does not say so for E9, so check when you phone.
Is a new dishwasher needed? The guide makes no such claim. It only says to contact service.
EC is the drawers failing to communicate, a controller-to-controller matter.
