FC: the two drawers are not communicating. Service-only.
Model compatibility: Fisher & Paykel reuses codes across series and model years, so FC / EC may mean something different on another appliance or generation. Confirm this against your model’s documentation and record your full model number before acting.
Plain language
What this code means
Communication fault between drawers.
When FC appears, the DishDrawer’s two drawers are no longer communicating. The F-code support article from Fisher & Paykel words it “communication fault between drawers” and lists it with the faults that need a service technician.
What you can observe
Which drawer, or drawers, display the code
If either drawer still opens, fills and washes
If the code appears on both drawers together
The guide asks you to write down the fault code, and with double models the code each drawer shows. It also helps to say which drawer displays it.
Earlier name
Classic panels show the same fault as EC, “electronics fault – communication between drawers”.
Gaps in the sources
No reset is listed for FC. The sources also do not say what physically connects the drawers, so there is no cable or board to inspect. Consider it a technician’s fault and keep the cabinet closed.
Where it shows up
FC belongs to double units; a single-drawer model has nothing to communicate with. Whether the code arrives at power-up or midway through a cycle is not stated. If you are able to, run one drawer alone, see how it behaves, and report that to the service desk.
FC versus U4
A drawer showing U4 is in good health but waits, because the other drawer has a fault; clear the other drawer’s code and U4 goes. With FC the connection between them is the problem.
Important safety warning. Do not attempt repairs involving electrical components, gas, water lines, refrigerant or sealed systems. Unplug the appliance if it is safe to reach the outlet, and leave internal diagnostics to a qualified technician.
