Model compatibility: Fisher & Paykel reuses codes across series and model years, so 9 may mean something different on another appliance or generation. Confirm this against your model’s documentation and record your full model number before acting.
Plain language
What this code means
The PC (fresh food) sensor resistance is outside the normal range, above 45K ohms.
In the manual, the PC sensor is the one watching the fresh food side. Code 9 arrives once its resistance climbs past 45K ohms, a value no real fridge temperature produces, and the control flags the sensor as faulty.
What the technician does
Look over the plug-in connection between the sensor and the power module.
When that is sound, fit a new sensor.
Effect you may have noticed
The control learns the main compartment temperature from this sensor. Lacking that, the cabinet may chill too hard or too little, so look over dairy, produce and leftovers for a day or two. Further tables in the manual deal with a compartment that runs cold or warm; sensor accuracy is one entry for the cold case.
Direct sensor reading
In diagnostic mode the PC sensor reading is shown first. Hold MODE and tap temperature UP; the lit LEDs total a figure, and 40 less than that figure is the temperature in degrees C. After the door is opened the value moves rapidly, which is why the manual says to enter the mode as the door first opens.
Leave to the technician
Do not touch the sensor or its wiring. Pressing a button hushes the alarm; a few seconds with the power off resets it. After that, arrange a visit.
Related codes
Code 10 covers this sensor falling below 660 ohms.
Important safety warning. Do not attempt repairs involving electrical components, gas, water lines, refrigerant or sealed systems. Unplug the appliance if it is safe to reach the outlet, and leave internal diagnostics to a qualified technician.
