Code 1 is logged when the power module failed its own check at the last power-up. The manual calls for a new module.
Model compatibility: Fisher & Paykel reuses codes across series and model years, so 1 may mean something different on another appliance or generation. Confirm this against your model’s documentation and record your full model number before acting.
Plain language
What this code means
The power module failed its self-test the last time the refrigerator powered up.
Meaning of code 1
Whenever the cabinet is powered on, the power module tests itself. Code 1 means that test was failed at the most recent power-up. It points to the electronics, not to temperature or airflow.
Role of the power module
It is a circuit board: the low ambient heater, the fans and the temperature sensors all get their supply from it, and it collects what the sensors report. A board that fails its own check cannot vouch for those readings, so the manual handles it as a board fault rather than a symptom to hunt elsewhere.
What you see on the cabinet
Only the fault code is shown on the display, along with a buzzer alarm.
The lowest LED blinks red in alternation with the code’s LED pattern.
Touching any control button mutes the buzzer. The regular display returns for 8 seconds, after which the code resumes.
The code is written as binary on the display LEDs; code 1 is just one LED with a value of 1.
Actions
The one action in the service manual is replacing the power module. No owner checks are listed, so nothing needs cleaning or tightening. A power cycle at the supply simply repeats the self-test and shows whether the fault persists. To stop the alarm, cut the supply for a few seconds; otherwise it clears itself after 72 hours.
Until the visit, open the doors as seldom as you can to protect the chilled food.
Compare with these
Code 11: a low combined reading from the heater and the two fans, which may also end in a new module.
Code 3: all the sensors outside their range at once, where the manual’s last step is that same module.
