Code 3: all temperature sensors read above the normal 45K ohm limit at once.
Model compatibility: Fisher & Paykel reuses codes across series and model years, so 3 may mean something different on another appliance or generation. Confirm this against your model’s documentation and record your full model number before acting.
Plain language
What this code means
The resistance of all the temperature sensors is outside the normal range, above 45K ohms.
Every sensor at once
Normally a single faulty sensor is named on its own. Code 3 departs from that: every temperature sensor is outside the range simultaneously, each one over 45K ohms.
The shared route
Reporting to the power module through a single 6-way RAST connector, they give the manual its starting point. The steps run:
Inspect the 6-way RAST connector where it joins the module.
Reterminate it.
If the code persists, the module is replaced.
Such high resistance is what the control sees from an open or unplugged sensor circuit.
Scale: normal values
Thermistor values in the manual are roughly 6 kilohms at 0 degrees C and 2.186 kilohms at 25 degrees C, tolerance 5 percent. Colder still, minus 30 degrees C, the table stops at 25.17 kilohms. A figure over 45 kilohms cannot therefore be a true temperature for this fridge.
Owner options
There are few. It is the power module that holds the connector, and only a technician gets access. A button silences the alarm and a brief power cut resets it. The food deserves watching too; with no sensor readings the fridge regulates poorly, so check for warming or freezing and relocate delicate items when needed.
Codes to check as well
Code 4: every sensor wrong in the opposite direction, under 660 ohms.
With code 3 on the display, call (310) 872-1939 for Fisher & Paykel refrigerator repair in Los Angeles. Tell them the model number and whether the fridge was recently moved or unplugged.
Important safety warning. Do not attempt repairs involving electrical components, gas, water lines, refrigerant or sealed systems. Unplug the appliance if it is safe to reach the outlet, and leave internal diagnostics to a qualified technician.
