Error codeU1
ApplianceDishDrawer Dishwasher
Quick answer
U1 is a fill fault. Open the water supply, and if water is already in the drawer, drain it and check the spray arm.
Model compatibility: Fisher & Paykel reuses codes across series and model years, so U1 may mean something different on another appliance or generation. Confirm this against your model’s documentation and record your full model number before acting.
Plain language
What this code means
No water reached the drawer: supply off or spray arm not fitted correctly.
When a DishDrawer starts a fill and the expected water never arrives, it shows U1. The Classic-model guide names one cause, a water supply that is switched off. The DD24/DD60 guide mentions another, a spray arm that is not seated properly.
Water line first
On the line feeding the DishDrawer is a shut-off valve. Confirm that it is open. If somebody had closed it, open it and press the start/pause button, which resumes the wash program according to the Classic guide. It is worth checking whether plumbing work or a new faucet installed close by left the valve closed.
Dry tub or puddle?
The DD24/DD60 guide treats these as two situations, so look into the drawer before doing anything else. A completely dry tub follows the dry-tub list. A puddle left at the bottom after the failed cycle follows the other list. With a dry tub, stay with the supply and leave the spray arm for later, since the tap is the cause listed first.
Dry tub
Open the water supply to the DishDrawer.
Restore power, either by plugging the unit in or by switching on at the supply.
Puddle in the tub
Give the unit power again.
Press the button and allow half a minute to pass.
Next press the power button. Draining happens by itself and takes roughly two minutes; steps 2 and 3 can be repeated if needed.
When the drawer is empty, look at the spray arm: it must sit correctly and turn without catching.
A spray arm in a water code
The guide puts both causes under a single fill fault without saying how they connect. A spray arm seated wrongly can give the same U1. The arm rotates and sprays water over the dishes, and it should leave its mount only when you take it off on purpose.
When U1 repeats
The supply and the spray arm are the only owner checks. If both are right and U1 returns, the guides have no further owner steps. As the Classic flowchart advises, disconnect power and water and tell Customer Care the code.
Short answers
Is the inlet valve to blame? Not according to the guides, which name nothing but the supply and the spray arm.
Does the program have to begin again? No. The Classic guide has you press start/pause to pick the program up once water is back.

A1: supply fault on newer panels; the tap check applies there too
Important safety warning. Do not attempt repairs involving electrical components, gas, water lines, refrigerant or sealed systems. Unplug the appliance if it is safe to reach the outlet, and leave internal diagnostics to a qualified technician.
