Error codeF5 / E5
ApplianceDishDrawer Dishwasher
Quick answer
F5 is a lid fault. A single power restore may reset it, otherwise book service.
Model compatibility: Fisher & Paykel reuses codes across series and model years, so F5 / E5 may mean something different on another appliance or generation. Confirm this against your model’s documentation and record your full model number before acting.
Plain language
What this code means
Lid fault; lid motor fault.
F5 tells you something is wrong with the internal lid, the part of a DishDrawer that closes over and seals the wash area. In the DD24/DD60 guide the entry is “lid fault”; the support article is more specific and says the lid motor.
First attempt: power
For F5 the older guide has a single instruction. Reconnect the DishDrawer to power, by plugging it in or switching on at the supply, and the fault may reset. The guide gives no reason, so think of it as a one-time try.
Disconnect the unit, either at the plug or at the supply switch.
Give it a few seconds.
Switch power back on and check whether the code has cleared.
When F5 returns
The support article lists F5 among the faults that require a service technician. Forcing the drawer, leaning on the lid or dismantling anything is not advised in either source, so leave all of it alone.
Not every lid message is F5
When a dish stands too high and the lid cannot close, the code is U2, a different one. Seeing U2 means the load is the cause, not the motor.
F5, F6 and F7 in the old guide
The DD24/DD60 guide gives all three codes the same line, so F6 and F7 come with the same plug-back-in advice. Whichever page you open, the reset is identical.
One question
What if the drawer refuses to open? Per the guide’s Designer-model flowchart, try it without using excessive force, and go no further.
Lid and drawer service in Los Angeles
When the lid fault remains after a restart, call (310) 872-1939. Say whether the drawer opens and which code the other drawer shows.
Important safety warning. Do not attempt repairs involving electrical components, gas, water lines, refrigerant or sealed systems. Unplug the appliance if it is safe to reach the outlet, and leave internal diagnostics to a qualified technician.
