Error codeF1 / E1
ApplianceDishDrawer Dishwasher
Quick answer
F1 is the flood and foam fault. Dry drawer or water on the floor, each case explained.
Model compatibility: Fisher & Paykel reuses codes across series and model years, so F1 / E1 may mean something different on another appliance or generation. Confirm this against your model’s documentation and record your full model number before acting.
Plain language
What this code means
Flood switch activated; flood detected or excess foaming.
If your DishDrawer shows F1, a flood has been sensed. The older DD24/DD60 guide says the flood switch has been activated, while the current support article says “flood detected or excess foaming”. That second wording means suds can set it off just as water can. Certain panels and listings display E1 for the same fault.
First, look for water
Check inside the tub first, then the floor and the base of the cabinet. The support article separates the two situations only by whether water can be seen, so the same rule applies to you.
Water visible: switch off the power, turn off the water supply, and book a service. It does not matter what you think caused it.
Nothing visible: go on to the overnight test below.
The older guide and the support article agree on the first case. The guide says to shut off the water and call a service centre or Customer Care.
The overnight test for a dry unit
Cut power to the DishDrawer at its supply.
Leave it off through the night.
The next day, run a cycle without any detergent.
If the fault has cleared, foam was most likely the trigger. Use no more than one teaspoon of detergent from then on.
Should F1 return on that empty cycle, the support article offers nothing more for the owner, which points to a service visit.
Detergent and foam
Dishwasher detergent is made to wash with little foam. Hand-washing liquid, or simply too much detergent, produces suds the machine was never designed to cope with. A7 is a related foam warning that clears itself through an automatic recovery program: see A7.
Things to avoid
Restarting over and over while water stands around the unit.
Opening electrical panels to hunt for the switch.
Brushing off a dry F1 that keeps returning. The guide never says it is harmless.
Short answers
Does F1 always mean a leak? No. Excess foaming is named as another possible reason.
May I dry the base and keep using it? Only if you saw no water and the overnight test makes the code vanish; otherwise book.
A3: the drawer cannot drain, which is also water in the wrong place
DishDrawer leak service in Los Angeles
With water on the floor, close the supply and dial (310) 872-1939. Mention if it is one drawer or two, and roughly how much detergent went in. More on drawer problems is on our DishDrawer repair page.
Important safety warning. Do not attempt repairs involving electrical components, gas, water lines, refrigerant or sealed systems. Unplug the appliance if it is safe to reach the outlet, and leave internal diagnostics to a qualified technician.
